FAQ QUESTIONS

What is the highest flow rate for purging?
The Kelron pump will be verified to flow at 380mL/min or higher. If the Kelron pump is not fast enough for your purging needs, a secondary pump can be attached to the outlet barb.

Can I use the Kelron pump to perform a shut it test?
Yes, the pump will pull approximately 15”Hg on the sample lines when turned all the way up. Be sure to use a 1 way check valve (add picture) into the tubing to protect the purge sensor from sudden pressure changes, which will cause erroneous Helium detections.

What if I see Helium detections before the unit has been exposed to any Helium?

Occasionally the warm up sequence will not clear the baseline noise. Turn the unit off and back on again to perform a second warm up. Other sources of false detections include CH4, H2 or water mists.

What happens if I accidentally pull water into he Kelron?

A small amount of water will slow the flow rate. If water reaches the pump it will shut off. Watch the lines for water at all times or use a water trap to prevent water from entering the unit. Occasionally small amounts of water can be purged through with fresh air, but usually service will be needed.
